About Rottweiler Hearts Rescue Team

RHR Board of Directors

SUSPENSION OF RHR OPERATIONS: It is with deep sadness that RHR's Board of Directors is Suspending All Operations of Rottweiler Hearts Rescue (except adoptions and care of our current dogs) until further notice. As per our adoption contract, we will continue to take our dogs back if necessary. We will readdress our decision and status this fall. Unless we can get active fosters and volunteers, we cannot move forward. We started this rescue, officially, January 27, 2012. This is now 2019 and over 350 dogs have come through our door. The families and people that we’ve met along the was are amazing. We wouldn’t have made it this far without your support. Regardless what future decisions we make, you will always be our family.

Jay, Vice President and Adoptoin Coordinator

Jay, Vice President & Adoption Coordinator

Hi. I'm Jay, the Vice President, Adoption coordinator and foster dad for Rottie Hearts. I work in telecommunications as a contractor and was lucky enough to find a career that I love. I've been in the industry for almost 20 years. I am an avid hockey fan and love it enough that I will watch the mites play during intermission of pro games. My hobbies include stained and fused glass. I make all of glass for RHR and it has quickly become a passion of mine. Please take a look at our events calendar and come out to visit with us and our rescues.

Mary Purcell, Secretary

Mary Purcell, Secretary

My name is Mary Purcell, secretary for RHR. My husband and I got our first Rottweiler puppy, Bubba, in 1999 and got hooked on this amazing breed. In 2012 when I retired after 38 years in teaching, I started volunteering as a dog walker for The APS of Durham and shifted focus from owner of purebred Rottweilers to the wonderful world of rescue. I am currently well loved by two Rottweilers. Rue came to us from The APS of Durham. Zeke is our sweet tripod who we adopted from RHR in August, 2016. Zeke was my introduction to this rescue. I not only adopted a great dog but gained some amazing friends who share my passion for the breed. Zeke is a recently certified therapy dog. We are a team for Canines for Therapy and particularly like to visit veterans who are amputees and make presentations about rescue in schools.

Barbara, President Rottweiler Hearts Rescue

Barbara May, President of Rottweiler Hearts Rescue

Hi there! I'm Barbara May and the President of Rottweiler Hearts Rescue, as known as Rottie Hearts and RHR. I'm an avid dog lover who must work during the day as an IT Specialist to support my habits: dogs, scrapbooking, and traveling. I've been a Rottie mom for over 25 years. Currently I have Pixie and Athena but am looking forward to bring in an RHR foster. After all, my girls need another Rottie to play with! Besides being RHR's President and the Volunteer, Events, and Fundraising Coordinator, I'm also the PR person for Rottie Hearts. Not that I have a lot of free time, but when I do, I enjoy getting together with friends, like the RHR BoDs, and our wonderful neighbors, who are very supportive of animal rescue. Don't forget to check out our Events calendar and Facebook page for our events. Hope to see you there!

Thank you for your support!
